This performance on the set of SNL in 1992 would become grimily memorable amongst the fans as one of the last recorded performances before John's departure. After the band had finished recording, Frusciante had become so used to living and recording in the mansion, secluded from the rest of the world, that the young guitarist had a hard time coping with the rapid super stardom that the band had been elevated to. Frusciante became secluded from the rest of the band and arguments between him and Kiedis would often break out over his guitar playing On the 7th Of May, before going out to play a sold out show at Sonic City, Japan, Frusciante announced that he had quit the band...
This is the earliest (decent quality) footage i could find of the band with Fruscanties replacement Arik Marshall. The band would continue touring with Marshall until February of '93, when the band stopped due to Flea being diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Even though the band were going though very hard times, they would continue to work hard and maintain their crazy and lively image, as seen in this MTV special
	However things weren't as jolly for John. After leaving the band John had become addicted to drugs and distanced himself from the outside world. This '94 VPRO documentary depicted the grim and shocking state of the young musician at the time...

And that ends the story of Blood Sugar Sex Magik, and even though we end this story on a sad note, we must remember that unlike most rock bands the chili peppers have a happy ending. Call me naive but im sure that the band will go on to release great music for years to come, and one day we will definitely see John back with them.
