Interview with Josh Klinghoffer in Guitar World.

Nice new interview, covers lots and it's real good Grin

New Josh Klinghoffer interview in the October issue of Guitar World Magazine.

"Who really mattered to you when you started playing?

Naturally, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page kind of playing on the one hand. And then Johnny Marr, Robert Smith and people like that. John Frusicante is one of my favorites. I just figured out anything and everything I could. Punk, Sex Pistols, Germs. When I was younger, I went back to that stuff. I was always more of a chordal, textural kind of textury player."

Great interview.

"Learning their amazing and immense back catalog. I told myself for this whole year and a half that I’ve been in the band that I should learn a song a day."

Really hope they pull out some hidden gems.

cool stuff getting a bit of the interview.......no way that's the whole thing considering he's the cover story. Here's to hoping he goes in depth talking about certain songs. Interesting the whole "soloing doesn't come naturally" thing, but I guess I kinda already recognized that. Cool to see him really throwing himself into all this.

I love how the bridge for Monarchy was made with Chad going "nuts on the drums" and Flea and Josh trying to keep up LOL

Josh's influence sound like John's influences. Zappa and Captain Beefhart are missing though.

I get the feeling that Josh is going to leave when they end touring to make music with Dot Hacker.

That's funny. I feel the same way. I was never much into soloing, my fingers seem incapable. But in every band I've played in, it's been more about creating cool sound, less about being technical.

Thanks for the interview, nice to have some words from Josh that weren't planted by either Flea or AK.

I like soloing but in a Clapton/Frusciante kind of way. Slower, sustained notes and not doing widdly shit all over the fretboard. Take solos in "Scar Tissue" and the Slane version of "Power of Equality". Simple but testicle-rippingly effective.

I do hope he does some soloing though, but if that's just not his style I'm cool with that Smile

So far his solos have been awesome though
