A dedication to Brendan Mullen
Both the song and video of Brendan’s Death Song is dedicated to Brendan Mullen, who was a longtime friend of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and one of the first music promoters to take notice of the band. Back in 1983, Anthony Kiedis and Flea visited Club Lingerie in Los Angeles where they played their demo tape for Mullen while dancing around like maniacs in typical peppers style. What Mullen heard and saw of the duo impressed him and so he offered the Red Hot Chili Peppers an opening slot at an upcoming Bad Brains show. Since their first encounter, Anthony Kiedis and Flea became longtime friends with Brendan Mullen. RHCP credits Mullen with being one of their first major supporters.
