Chris Rock is a fan and friend of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. In 2006 he was chatting to RHCP producer, Rick Rubin about his love for Stadium Arcadium and Hump De Bump – a song that Rock liked in particular. He told Rubin that ‘They need to do a straight down-the-middle party, girls, ass-shaking, Rolling Stones-type video,’”
“Rick told Anthony what I said, so Anthony pages me and asks if I’d like to direct the video. I said, ‘Okay, I’ll direct it, but you have to agree to be the only white people in the video.’ He laughed and said, ‘Sure, because it’s going to look different.’”
Chris Rock directed the Hump De Bump Music Video in December, 2006. The video takes place at a city block party on the set of Everybody Hates Chris. Chris Rock also stars as himself in the video.
